Dear Ana, Active/inactive controls whether you can rotate or translate a model with the mouse. Zooming is simply showing things larger or smaller and it always applies to everything -- you cannot zoom only one thing and not the others. If you really mean Z-translation (moving closer or farther away) and not zooming, then probably the easiest way is instead to activate all, rotate everything 90 degrees, deactivate the models you don't want to move, and then selectively X-translate or Y-translate (instead of trying to Z-translate). Here is the explanation of activation/inactivation for motion: <https://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/mouse.html#activedef> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Dear all, I want to fit a pdb structure into a cryoem map. Accordingly to the youtube tutorials I open both, place the correct pixel size, centre, and then I want to zoom only on the pdb file, but inactivating the cryoem map doesn't work: both maps zoom together. What am I doing wrong? Best regards, -- Ana Andreea ARTENI, PhD
