For small data sets, the Intel graphics should be fine.  If it is sluggish, then consider upgrading to a laptop with AMD or NVIDIA graphics, and if that is still sluggish, switch to a desktop system.  For similar price points, a desktop system, with AMD or NVIDIA graphics, will out perform a laptop, and you can spend more and get even better performance.

As for your problem, my guess is that either you don't have a graphics driver installed or you have an ancient graphics driver installed.  So the first step is to go to your computer's manufacturer's web page and update the graphics driver to the latest version.  There might be other updates from the manufacturer that would help too (BIOS, other chipset drivers).  If it still doesn't work (because manufacturers frequently stop updating the graphics driver), you should be able to use Intel's latest version from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/.  Intel's version will not have any customizations that your computer's manufacturer has made, but that is usually an acceptable tradeoff to get working 3D graphics.

And if you are still having problems after updating the graphics driver, use Chimera's Help | Report a Bug .. dialog to report the bug and we'll dig deeper into the problem.

Would it be the problem of the graphics card? The  graphics card in my computer is Mobile Intel (R) 45 Express Chipset. Is it not suitable for Chimera to work properly?

Subject:[Chimera-users] the "select" funtion of mouse is disable

Dear all,

I find the "select" funtion of mouse in Chimera is disable. I can not use "ctrl+left mouse button" to select any item in the structure. Have you met this problem before? My systems is windows 7 and the Chimera version is 1.10.1. How to solve this problem? Do I need to change some setting?

Best regards,
