I'll produce a file in this cube format tomorrow and send it over. I'll also try to read it into chimera. As far as I understand it's not the format of the file I tried to read into  chimera a few days ago and failed.

That may be a different “cube" format, but I don’t know for sure.  Is this the same file that you couldn’t open before?  Then I’d say no, especially if you already tried opening it as gaussian cube grid  :-D  … but if you have any example files to share, or a link where this format output from DelPhi 8.4 is documented, that would be helpful.  Given programmer time is very limited, I can’t say if it will be supported, however.
