But anyway, another idea is to use the "shape cylinder" command to create a cylindrical surface model and then (possibly after repositioning one model relative to the other) the "mask" command to zero out the part of the map that falls inside the surface. See the various command options:

I found that Erase Octant definitely draws a box but If not aligned with the z axis the hole has the dimension of the projected axis - if its angle is large the hole is large and vice versa. If you want to erase part of a map as indicated by interactive mouse positioning, instead use the Volume Eraser tool (in menu under Tools… Volume Data).
