Hi, I wish to be a little more positive about label3d-like functionality in chimera. Assuming that you are willing to live with what chimera produces, rather than use neon or conic, then there is a good chance that the functionality that you need will be there in the next 6 months. The font software that we use has the capability to do what you want, but we need to expose the functionality to our Python layer and work out an appropriate GUI. Our next step, however, is to work on reducing how much memory chimera uses and figure out how to speed chimera up. I've created an entry in our bug database for your request so that you will be notified when our internal version of chimera has label3d functionality. The next snapshot or production release after that email will contain the functionality. There is also a slight chance that I'll incorporate the label3d functionality while we're working on optimizing chimera. Dear Devleena, For now, Chimera does not have a label3d-like tool, nor is it likely to in the near future (though in the long term it could happen). For now, you are going to have to take the neon/conic image and label it "by hand" in Photoshop or some such. We do anticipate adding an "ilabel"-like tool soon (so that arbitrary 2D labels can be placed on the Chimera image), but even that won't help here since those won't be transmitted through to neon or conic either.
