Often publication figures have views that are precisely related to one another, for example by zooming in (as you described) or rotating 90 degrees. In addition to saving positions as Greg suggests, you can use translation, scaling, and rotation commands so that the relationship between the positions is exact. For example, you might get the zoomed-out view by hand, then after saving the position, use scale 4.5 move x 2 move y -1 to get a zoomed-in (closeup) view, or turn y -90 center ligand to rotate 90 degrees around the axis vertical in the plane of the screen, using the ligand to define the center of rotation. <http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/move.html> <http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/turn.html> <http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/savepos.html> <http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/tutorials/frameimages.html> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. A trick to help you restore the image to previous size after you zoom in and move the image is to: (1) first, use the savepos command to save the current position and orientations, (2) reposition the image and save the image, (3) and then use the reset command to restore the earlier position and orientations.

Hi Dmitry,
Using Chimera File / Save Image always saves an image of the entire graphics window. There is no way to have Chimera crop that image. You can save the full image and crop it using other software, or you can resize the Chimera window and zoom in to show just the region you are interested in before saving the image.

Hello.
Dear Chimera users,
Is it possible to save part of session screen, not whole picture?
I just need in high-resolution illustration.
With my best wishes,
Dmitry Yegorov.
