Often publication figures have views that are precisely related to one another, for example by zooming in (as you described) or rotating 90 degrees. In addition to saving positions as Greg suggests, you can use translation, scaling, and rotation commands so that the relationship between the positions is exact. Using Chimera File / Save Image always saves an image of the entire graphics window. There is no way to have Chimera crop that image. You can save the full image and crop it using other software, or you can resize the Chimera window and zoom in to show just the region you are interested in before saving the image.
