Hi Jim,

Chimera does not output Euler angles.  The "measure rotation" command (e.g. me rot #0 #1) will report to the Reply Log the relative position of two models as a 3 by 4 matrix (3 by 3 rotation plus a translation vector), and also reports as a rotation about an axis through a specified point and shift along that axis.  Euler angles only would handle the rotation, not the relative translation between two maps.  We don't use them because there is more than one convention defining Euler angles and we haven't seen much need.  What software do you want to use that takes them as input?

Hi Elaine,
Could I obtain euler angles after I rotate a single map to some special orientation or save it as a MRC file (not in the situation of fitting one map to another)?
Thanks!
Jim

Hi Jim,
Simply saving a map to a file after fitting will not save its new orientation, because the map file formats  do not include rotation/translation information. However, you can create a new map on the grid of another map by resampling.  For details, please see this section on "saving after fitting":

There is a "Transform Coordinates" tool (in menu under Tools... Movement) with which you can apply Euler angles if you already knew them, but the information above is probably more relevant to your situation.
I hope this helps,
Elaine
