Hi Raj, Our current molecular visualization software is ChimeraX, we haven't developed Chimera for about 8 years. Code contributions to ChimeraX would be more useful. There is an app store for ChimeraX called Toolshed (https://cxtoolshed.rbvi.ucsf.edu/) and documentation about how to write plugins for ChimeraX (https://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/devel/index.html).
