I’ve now changed the code so that the model panel rebuild is only delayed if the number of open models changes, so clicking the show/hide button will not be delayed. Available in the next daily build. —Eric Eric Pettersen UCSF Computer Graphics Lab

Hi Julian, The model panel rebuilds its table whenever a model changes, or is opened or closed. This was slowing down scripts that opened/closed lots of models and therefore this delay was inserted to allow multiple open/close/change events to result in only one rebuild of the table (or at least, fewer rebuilds). I need to think about how to remedy the visually slower response you’re seeing. In the interim, you could edit line 807 of Chimera.app/Contents/Resources/share/ModelPanel/base.py and change to 500 to 50, which will change the delay from a half second to a twentieth of a second.

Dear Chimera Team,
there is a long delay between on and off of the ’S’-checkbox (show button) in the model panel. I mean the model it self vanished instantly but the ckeckbox takes much longer to be set to on/off.
Mac OS X 64-bit Version tested (1.11 2016-06-30, 1.11.2 2016-12-02; ): very slow. In older versions (1.10.2 2015-07-23) it was much faster. It is kind unfortunate when you click very fast through all models manually or you just want to alternatively show and hide one model very fast to see differences.
Is it possible to set the speed somewhere/somehow?
Thanks a lot for your advise Julian —————————————————————————————————
