The last production release (currently 1.5.3) is generally recommended.
Even though our download page hasn't been updated to mention Mac 10.7 (Lion), users have reported that Chimera works on that OS, for example:

You could try using Help... Report a Bug in the Chimera menu to report your problem, or if you can't do that, here is a web form:

Please include more information on what you mean by "cannot use any of the features." Maybe there is something specific about your computer that we will be able to figure out. Thanks,
