What kind of object are you trying to place, a molecular structure? a density map? an abstract shape like an ellipsoid? There is not a general facility to do this but it may be possible to write a script to do it in specific cases. The following Python script, placem.py, http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/trac/chimera/attachment/wiki/Scripts/placem.py <http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/trac/chimera/attachment/wiki/Scripts/placem.py> on the Chimera Python scripts web page http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/trac/chimera/wiki/Scripts <http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/trac/chimera/wiki/Scripts> can place molecules or maps at positions listed in a text file. How do I place an object with small volume in the locations of markers in a marker set? Essentially, I would like to replace the sphere markers with copies of my own object.
This is my first post in this mailing list. I very much appreciate all of your help.
