Hi Dominique, In Chimera you can specify the model number at time of opening if you use the "open" command. For example: open #5 ~/Desktop/myfile.mrc ...or if you want to use the file browser, omit the filename: open #3 ...and then the file browser will appear for choosing the file interactively. See "open" manual page: <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/open.html> ChimeraX has a "rename" command that lets you change the model name and number after opening, but Chimera does not have such a command. <http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/rename.html> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Hello, Is there any way to renumber maps in a session so subsequent maps open together and in order instead of replacing the numbers of maps removed from the session? Best, Dominique
