Hi Lei, I said in the previous reply that you could use Color Zone (it has a Split Map button) if you already had an atomic structure placed into that domain of the density map. <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/colorzone/colorzone.html> However, maybe you don’t already have the atomic structure placed into the map. In that case, some other tools that might be useful are: Segment Map (Segger) <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/segger/segment.html> <https://github.com/gregdp/segger/wiki> Volume Eraser <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/voleraser/voleraser.html> These tools I mention are all in the main menu under Tools… Volume Data, and also in the Volume Viewer menu: Tools. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Meng, Ph.D. UCSF Chimera(X) team Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco

Dear Dr. Meng,
Thanks for your patience and help! I got a map and want to use its one domain to do MDFF, so I need to split this domain precisely from the whole map. Is there some tools in chimera to do this job? Thanks!
Sincerely,
Lei

Dear Dr. Meng, Thanks for your previous kindly help. Now, I have tried to split a special part from a whole map with the methods of surface zone (done) and vop multiply (still trying), but I found that the effect was not satisfactory. Is there some way to split a map much more real, accurate and precise as possible. Thank your very much! Sincerely, Lei
Hi Lei, Chimera questions should be sent to the chimera-users@cgl.ucsf.edu address, CC-d here.
I really have no idea what you are trying to do. If you have some atoms and you want to split the map near those atoms from the rest of the map, instead use the Color Zone tool which has a Split Map button. <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/colorzone/colorzone.html>
