Sorry,  I got it to work. There was this other option box saying background method (solid, gradient or image)  that  I hadn't  seen.

Hi,

I need help  to put an image in the background  of the main chimera window.  I am using  the background settings dialogue in preferences  and  after loading the image it does appear in the  little icon in the dialogue box  but not on the main chimera window.  Do I need to do something else?  The image I am trying to place is in jpeg format and I am using Chimera version 1.6
