Is there something newer, better, or less expensive than the Stereograhics Crystal Eyes viewing system that is compatible with PC or Mac? Or is the Crystal Eyes still the best system for Chimera and other molecular modeling and computer visualization software? Stereographics sells a CrystalEyes Workstation (either Windows/Linux or Mac) that looks attractive.
To my knowledge, Macs do not currently support stereo graphics, which is too bad... Depending on the revision of your existing crystal eyes emitters, they might work fine with a Linux box. I have an older crystal eyes emitter hooked to the Quadro 750 board in my Linux box and use the nuvision glasses that Sabuj referred to with it. It works fine. I'll repeat what Sabuj said: you cannot use crystal eyes glasses with the nuvision emitter. But the other direction works fine. We have other crystal eyes emitters which do not work with the nVidia graphics boards we have here. I am not sure why but that has been my observation. Jarrod Smith -- Jarrod A. Smith, Ph.D. Asst.
