surface texture export
Hi. Is there any way to export Coloumbic colored surfaces as JPG textures when you export geometry (obj, vrml, etc)? Or get the 3D texture data in some other format? I'm trying to import my Coulombic-colored protein into a 3D program. -Laura Lynn
Hi Laura, What is the 3D program? If you're using Blender, here's the answer I found a little while ago: http://blendersushi.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/pipeline-import-vertex-color-sol... Hi Laura Lynn, If you use Chimera menu entry File / Export Scene... and choose file type VRML then the exported VRML file will contain per-vertex Coulombic coloring. I know this because I can read that VRML file back into Chimera and it shows the correct red, white and blue colors. I'm not sure whether it will be possible to get that into the "3D program" you want to use the surface in. I'm not sure what it means to export a JPG texture. To apply such a texture you would need texture coordinates on the surface. Chimera does not export textures or texture coordinates. Tom
