color surface by volume data - thickness
Dear all, Is it possible, while coloring the surface of a sphere using volume data value, to increase the thickness of the volume that is used to color that surface? I guess now just a 1 pixel thick intersection of the sphere with the volume is used, but I would like to vary the width of this intersection. Roman Koning
Hi Roman, I guess you mean you want to show a spherical shell of say a virus. One idea is to make several closely spaced concentric spheres and color each with transparency. Another would be to spherically clip the map surface leaving everything within the sphere showing. I’ve attached example images (EMDB 6555) and command scripts that do these. You should change the command file suffix to “.cmd” instead of “.txt” if you want to open them in Chimera. I use “.txt” here because many email servers reject attachments with “.cmd” suffix as a potential virus. Tom
