Dear Colleagues, I'm trying to open 4fe1-sf.cif file with chimera 1.10.2. But nothing is happening. Although the program saying : "Done opening ....." Could you please explain how to open *cif files ? Sincerely, Dmitry

Dear Dmitry, Chimera does read mmCIF files, such as from the RCSB PDB, but not necessarily all CIF files. As I understand it, the CIF file possibilities are broader than mmCIF, so some CIF files may have parts that Chimera does not understand. Assuming your file is in correct CIF format (.cif is the correct filename suffix), this is probably what is happening. Input filetypes and how to open them: <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/filetypes.html> <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/filetypes.html#molstruct> Sorry, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
