Hi Frankie, If ctrl-left-button click on an atom doesn't select the atom that is probably a bug in your computer graphics driver. Chimera asks the graphics card to tell it what is under the mouse and it might be saying nothing is under the mouse. To test this theory you could use menu Select / Select All, then try ctrl-left-click on an atom and see if it clears the entire selection (magnifying glass in lower right corner of window will be white). This will show that it indeed tried to select something out decided nothing was under the mouse. If this is the problem, the best hope is to update your graphics driver. You could use Chimera Help / Report a Bug… and it will tell us your graphics card and driver and that might give us a clue (sometimes your card is not supported by Windows accept at a very basic level). If there is no driver update you are stuck. You could try using older Chimera versions like 1.7 and that might work because those used an older graphics call to ask what is under the mouse. I guess the difference between my two computers is the input device. My home PC is using mouse while my notebook is using touch pad.
