I have been testing the vrml output from chimera (for loading into cinema 4d) and I can get a ribbon representation to work ok. However when I try a surface rendering it looses all the color. Am I dong something wrong. Also with the surface rendering is there a way to change how course the vrml output is? Many thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew, You could try opening the Chimera VRML file in Chimera and see if it gets the colors right. If it does then the problem could be a limitation of cinema 4d. What kind of surface are you displaying (molecular surface, contour surface, multiscale surface)? If it is a molecular surface created with Actions / surface / show, you can change the number of surface vertices by selecting the surface, then showing the selection inspector using the button in the lower right corner of the Chimera main window, then change the "vertex density" setting.
