getting a density map for a protein

Some time ago when the 'Fit model into Map' feature was introduced there was a note that a tool to build a density map from a protein might be released at a later date. I haven't seen any evidence of this yet, has it been done? Otherwise, any pointers to other tools that do this? Thanks, Greg Pintilie

By "protein" I'm assuming that you have a PDB and not just a sequence.

try pdb2mrc http://blake.bcm.tmc.edu/eman/eman1/progs/pdb2mrc.html HTH, Sabuj

Hi Greg, We have not yet made Chimera able to produce a density map from a PDB model. This is on my Chimera plans web page (number 81 - ordered by date not priority). http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/plans.html I recently updated the "plans" web page to indicate what has been done. If you want to use the EMAN pdb2mrc program as Sabuj suggests I think you will need to also install the FFTW library. Tom
