Permission to use Chimera for non-academic purposes

Hello, I'm a computational biologist at Wash U. in Saint Louis and have been using Chimera for some years now. I also do some stock market research in biotech and write informative articles about some companies that do small-molecule research. To aid in this, I would like to include some Chimera-generated images. Would this be alright and can I obtain some written confirmation if so? Thanks Jon Helander

Hi Jon, Whoever makes the images with Chimera holds the copyright to those images. Although we appreciate you citing Chimera for such images it is not necessary, but you should get permission from the person who created the image. If you want images from our web site, we generally grant permission and ask that you cite the Chimera paper. http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/credits.html <http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/credits.html> Tom
