re-sampled map (volume resample #X onGrid #Y) difference with general mrc map

Dear colleagues, I have an issue with the output map re-sampled from the resampling step protocol. Could you please explain how different the re-sampled map is compared to the general mrc map (without rotation manipulations)? Because it seems that some important information is missing or/changed in the re-sampled.mrc Kind regards, Dmitry

Hi Dmitry, There is a bit more detail about it in the documentation. See "resampling and loss of resolution" in the Notes, here for ChimeraX (but is same in Chimera): <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/volume.html#notes> Even if there is no rotation, if you are resampling, at least some of the grid points will be in different locations and interpolation will be done to get values at those points. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Meng, Ph.D. UCSF Chimera(X) team Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco
