How do I determine the exact color value of a model from a previous session? I want to open a session, determine the color of a selected chain, and then color another chain that exact color. I can't seem to find an "eye-dropper" or other comparable tool to determine the color value (RGB, hex, etc). Thanks. Albion

Hi Albion, True, there is no eye-dropper tool in Chimera. To find the color of a chain, select an atom then press the "1 atom" selected button in the lower right corner of the Chimera main window to show the selection inspector and press the color button in that dialog to see the exact color in the Color editor dialog. To apply that color to another chain you can now select that other chain, and use menu entry Actions/Color/From-editor. You could also read of the hex-rgb value for that color from the color dialog. Also you can drag the color from the color stripe at the top of the color dialog to one of the black boxes near the bottom of the color dialog. The black box then takes on that color and it is remembered for future Chimera sessions and you can get back to it whenever you show the color dialog by clicking the box with that color. Tom
