export scene to maya, obj, iges, stl, dwg-dxp?
Hi Greg, I'm trying to export proteins using Chimera to a Maya file for animations and presentation, but when I export to an .obj file it has no geometry. How can I assure there is geometry in the file? Best regards, Eli Kuslansky

In Maya's bin directory there is a program, wrl2ma, that converts VRML files to Maya. So you should be able to export VRML from chimera, run that conversion program, and import the result into Maya. That should preserve the geometry. There is also a turorial with more details on <http://www.molecularmovies.org/> on how to export molecular data to Maya: <http://www.molecularmovies.com/images/pdf_tutorials/MolGraphicsExport.pdf>. Good luck, Greg
Hi Eli, Chimera only experts surfaces in Wavefront OBJ format, not molecular models. If you select the OBJ file format in the File / Export Scene... dialog it describes this limitation in the dialog. Tom Eli Kuslansky wrote:
