I found Palette Editor Tool, but I don't know how to use it. How can I apply chosen pallete in Surface Color Tool or load colors from palette into rainbow tool? -- pozdrawiam serdecznie Michał Kadlof <m.kadlof@cent.uw.edu.pl>

Hi Michał, Although I believe the original intent was to integrate palettes more widely, unfortunately only gradient-coloring of the background can directly use a palette. <http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/palette.html> <http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/background.html> <http://plato.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/preferences.html#Background> The annoying long way to use a built-in or saved palette in Rainbow (if 5 colors) or Surface Color is to show the palette as color wells in the Palette Editor (find the palette you want and then use the Custom tab to show the wells) and then drag and drop from each color into the corresponding color well of the Rainbow or Surface Color dialog. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
