Hi, I just downloaded Chimera 1.2540 and was pleased to see that the SpaceNavigator 3-D mouse is now supported for Windows and Mac. Will those of us who use Linux be able to use our SpaceNavigators with Chimera any time soon? Thanks. D. Greening Memorial University of Newfoundland

Hi D, Perhaps we can add space navigator support in the next 6 months. There are many other Chimera projects that we are working on. You would think that since it works on Windows and Mac that adding Linux would be easy. But the Windows, Mac and Linux methods of receiving space navigator events are completely different. On Windows we use COM, on Mac we wrote a C++ library that talks to the Mac driver, on Linux it will need either an X windows or HID device interface. 3dconnexion has really done a poor job making their devices usable across multiple platforms. I'll add Linux support to our feature request page. http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/plans.html Tom
