Hi chimera help,I have been using chimera and find it extremely useful. I was finding particular protein sequences within my structures and hit clear selection under the select tab.Now whenever I try and find a seq, it wdoes not show up and "selection cleared" appears in the bottom right corner of the window. I tried to reboot and the issue persists.Interestingly I can still see amino acid and chain selections just fine. How can I undo this "clear selection" issue I inadvertently caused? Thank you in advance for your help.Brian Ondek
Hi Brian, Glad you like Chimera! Using the menu item: Select… Clear Selection should not have any effect on subsequent selections, including by sequence. It just clears whatever selection you have at that moment, and there is no persistent setting from using it. I tried it just now, and after that could still select sequences without problem with main menu: Select… Sequence (or showing the sequence in Multalign Viewer such as with menu: Favorites… Sequence, and then using the sequence window menu: Edit… Find Subsequence). I guess make sure you are actually entering a sequence that exists in your structure. You can check by showing its sequence as described above … I don’t have other ideas of what could be happening in your case. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
