Hi all, I just installed the latest version of Chimera (1.5.1 x86_64) on CentOS 5.5. I'm having a problem with MSMS surface representation. It doesn't show the surface for all the atoms and it just looks messed up. I installed the same version of Chimera on RedHat Linux 5 and it works without any problem. I don't know what the problem is. Does anyone use Chimera on CentOS? Any comment is appreciated. Thank you! Yohei

Hi Yohei, This is probably because CentOS 5.5 is using an old and buggy version Mesa for OpenGL 3d graphics. We have seen this problem before. If you have a graphics card from nvidia or ati you should install a graphics driver from the maker to get much faster and somewhat less buggy graphics. If you have no graphics driver you can try disabling vertex buffer objects in the Chimera "Debug Graphics Driver" dialog http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/debug/debug.html If you want to discuss this problem further please use Chimera menu entry Help / Report a Bug.... This will give us info on your graphics and Chimera versions. Tom
