Hello everybody: I had some problems with chimera. I installed version 2470 but it explodes when I try to select anything with the following error: Segmentation fault (core dumped) I tried also version 1.2422 and I got the same error. All other features of chimera seems to work properly. In both cases the installation process seems normal. I'm running chimera in linux (ubuntu gutsy) with a 2.6.22-14-generic kernel. In other computer in the lab with the same linux distribution and kernel, all features in chimera 1.2470 work fine (including the select menu). Thanks in advance for any help. Liane

Hi Liane, This is almost certainly a graphics driver problem. Since it happens during selection it may be related to the green outline Chimera draws around selected objects. You can try changing the selection highlighting to see if that helps. Use Chimera menu Favorites / Preferences, select category Background, and switch "Selection highlight method" from outline to fill. Then try selecting something. If that works you could make that the default by pressing the Save button on the preferences pane where you made that change. The real fix is to get a graphics driver that works. You should try to update the driver. We have advice about this on our graphics driver bugs web page. http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/graphics/graphicsbugs.html Tom

Thanks Tom, it worked by changing the selection method in the preferences menu. On Sat, 2008-04-05 at 12:59 -0700, Tom Goddard wrote:
