I produce high quality Animated PNG files and it takes a lot of juggling different computers to accomplish. Is there a way to simply chose APNG from the movie recorder output pulldown menue?Would there be a plug in for that? My animations can be found at:https://www.deviantart.com/mandelscape/gallery/24158715/molecular Thank you Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Chimera uses ffmpeg to encode movie files. Searching online, it appears that ffmpeg supports .png files for output, which are APNG files. So it should possible to add that as an output format. Currently, we are only making bug fixes for Chimera, so if we add this feature, it would be for ChimeraX. That said, the movie encoding support code in ChimeraX is very similar to Chimera's. So it looks like it would be easy to backport. I'll create a ChimeraX ticket on your behalf so you'll be notified when it is added to ChimeraX. -- Greg On 12/6/2021 8:21 PM, Frank Irby via Chimera-users wrote:

Also Chimera includes ffmpeg so you could have Chimera save your move and h.264 and then just use the Chimera ffmpeg from the command-line to convert that to animated png. For instance, here https://www.reddit.com/r/ffmpeg/comments/5zuvns/how_do_i_use_ffmpeg_apng_enc... <https://www.reddit.com/r/ffmpeg/comments/5zuvns/how_do_i_use_ffmpeg_apng_encoder/> it says the following works ffmpeg -i input.mp4 output.apng Chimera 1.15 ffmpeg on Mac is here Chimera-1.15.app/Contents/Resources/bin/ffmpeg Tom

It turns out it was easy to add. So APNG support is in both the Chimera and ChimeraX daily builds. -- Greg On 12/7/2021 9:52 AM, Tom Goddard via Chimera-users wrote:
