Hi, Is it possible to make background transparent? Thanks, Dmitriy ************************************** Dmitriy Krepkiy, Ph.D. Room 3B213 Building 35 - Porter Bldg, 35 Convent Dr Bethesda, MD 20892

Hi Dmitriy, For images directly from Chimera, it depends on your computer. The setting is in the Effects tool (Tools... Viewing Controls... Effects). If not possible on your computer, I think there will be a message that says so when you try to turn the option on. http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/sideview.html#effects For images raytraced with POV-Ray from Chimera, there is a separate setting in the "POV-Ray Options" section of the Chimera Preferences. One way to show these options are by choosing File.. Save Image, setting the raytrace option to "true" and then clicking the "POV-Ray Options" button. Depending on your version of Chimera, it is described as an alpha channel or transparent background setting. http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/preferences.html#POV- Ray%20Options As noted in that manual page, you also need to turn off depth-cueing in Chimera (in the Effects tool mentioned above) to get a transparent background in the raytraced result. I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C.
