How to clip surface using mclip

Dear Chimera Team and Users, I like to clip the surface of a model (but not the model itself) using the command mclip. Unfortunately, this command apparently is waiting for a model number and therefore works on the surface as well as the model itself. On the other hand, the interactive tool "Per Model Clipping" allows to clip the surface only. Because I like to use clipping in a movie, using the interactive interface is not an option. Does anybody know how this could be acomplished using the command line? Dear Richard, A somewhat ugly workaround is to open an additional copy of the structure and only show the surface for the copy. Then you will have a surface with a model number that differs from the corresponding structure. It may be a hassle, however, since in the movie script you will need to be careful to move the surface along with the structure -- the two models with different numbers will not be coupled automatically. Hi Richard, Chimera has this problem of not providing a way to uniquely specify models that have the same id number. Here's a tricky method to specify the surface and not the atoms when both a molecule and surface have model number 0. mclip "#0 & ~@" Tom -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [Chimera-users] How to clip surface using mclip From: Marhoefer, R (Richard) To: chimera-users Date: 12/3/09 8:29 AM
