Movie Recorder Frame Options not available

Dear Sir or Madam, I am trying to record a movie in Chimera 1.13.1, but I consistently get the following error without a proper error message: "An error occurred during encoding. See Reply Log for details. Error during MPEG encoding: ----------------------------- Exit value: 1 Error message: ". I think there might be a problem with the frame directory, but I can neither change the frame options (they are hidden) nor do I find any information on how to get the permission to change the fram options. I'd be very happy to receive help from you concerning this matter. Hi Angela, I have no idea what you mean by “not available”. Click the black triangle to the left of “Frame Options” in the Movie Recorder dialog to reveal the options. <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/recorder/recorder.html> Or, if you are using the “movie record” command, they are additional command options: <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/movie.html#record-options> However, the error message says the error is during encoding, not recording, so I doubt that the problem is in the frame options. The first thing is to make sure that the output file location is somewhere that you have permission to write files. If that’s not the problem, then check the “Movie Options” (again, reveal using black triangle; however, defaults should be good) or if using commands, “movie encode” command options. <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/midas/movie.html#encode-options> I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. The most common cause of this movie encoding error is that no frames were recorded. That is typically an error in your command script which was supposed to record the frames. The Reply Log usually indicates this is the problem, although it is buried in lots of ffmpeg (movie encoding program) output. Tom
