Hi, Now that the pre-orders are being placed for VR headsets, are you planning to support the headsets like Oculus Rift and HTC-Vive for 3D stereo Opening rendering? Looks like nVidia is making this easier for developers: https://devblogs.nvidia.com/parallelforall/vr-sli-accelerating-opengl-virtua... Thanks. Gökhan

Hi Gökhan, We’ve been using the Oculus Rift developer kits 1 and 2 with our new ChimeraX program. Here’s some tests we did a few years ago http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/data/oculus-jan2014/oculus.html Our ChimeraX software is not released yet. http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimerax/ We have not done much with the Oculus in the past 6 months since Oculus decided to work only on Windows. We don’t currently have a Windows version of our ChimeraX program but will later this year. On the Mac a very old Oculus SDK (.5.0.1) is needed, and it doesn’t work well, especially on El Capitan where the position tracking camera stopped working (works in Yosemite though). Ignoring those short-term issues, all we have done is fly around in scenes. Also ChimeraX lets you record 360 stereoscopic movies for the oculus or other devices. But just flying around isn’t all that interesting. The user interface needed to interact with, measure, modify, and analyze molecules in some kind of heads-up display would be a large amount of work.
