Hi, I have generated a movie in which a morph "loop" between volume A and B is running while the volume is rotating...this works fine. Is there a convenient way to fade in a 2D label whenever the volume B endpoint is reached during morphing (at exactly this frame and maybe a few adjacent ones to make it smoother)? Even better would be if it were possible to label both endpoints (as "volume A" and "volume B"). In effect, this should result in a 2dlabels fade-in/out loop that is synchronous with the morph loop. I would greatly appreciate your help! Hi Matthias, Here's an example Chimera command script that morphs between two maps, spins it around, and fades labels in and out, and records a movie. Tom

Hi Matthias, There isn't any special capability to synchronize label display to a map morph. Currently the standard way to make a movie in Chimera is with a command script. It is difficult to get a decent movie if you record while interactively typing commands or using menus. We are working on a movie making tool that lets you snapshot scenes and then automatically interpolate between them using a dialog timeline interface. This won't be available for at least 6 months. So command scripts are the best choice now, although it requires a bit of learning about the Chimera command language. Details about the useful movie making commands are in the Chimera User's Guide (see the movie command). Here's that documentation for Chimera daily builds http://www.cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/UsersGuide/movies.html Tom
Tom,
thanks for the script, this helps!
I gather from this, however, that there is no ³automated² way of showing the labels synchronized to the morph...the advantage of this would be that I could use it with to make a movie without scripting/counting the frames (just an interactive freeze command when at the interesting viewing angles to stop there a little while and then go on with roll ³movie director style² as opposed to ³programmer style²).
Yet end result would be the same, anyway.
Thanks again for your support - I like chimera a lot!
Best Matthias
