Hi Chimera users I am wondering if its possible to assign 2 different color to 2 different helix when use the pipes and planks option in depiction. best Jiri
Hi Jiri, If in the Pipes and Planks dialog you make the color “None” (click color well to show the Color Editor tool, and in the Color Editor lick the “No Color”) button, then each pipe or plank will be shown in the same color as the ribbon of the first residue in that helix or strand, respectively. <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimera/docs/ContributedSoftware/pipesandplanks/pipesandplanks.html> So maybe the hardest part is to first color the ribbons with the colors you want for the pipes and planks. It only uses the ribbon color of the first residue in a helix or strand because each individual pipe or plank can only be one color, although different ones can be different colors. By the way, in our newer software ChimeraX you can show helix tubes with multiple colors, even a different color for each residue. However, it is only prerelease “alpha” software right now and lacks many features. <http://www.rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/index.html> I hope this helps, Elaine ---------- Elaine C.
