Hello, I have prepared a ribbons drawing for my structure, with axes for the helices in it (Tools -> Structure Analysis -> Axes/Planes/Centroids). When I try to reduce the shininess of the figure, I can change it for the ribbons (Viewing -> Lightning -> Shininess) but not for the axes, that remain unchanged (very shiny). Is there a way to change the shininess for all objects, ribbons and axes? Hi Luca, Wow, I never noticed that before! Seems like a limitation or a bug, and I don’t know of a workaround… I even tried saving them as VRML, deleting the originals, and then reading in the VRML axes, but they had exactly the same problem. If you switch to ambient-only lighting (e.g. Viewing -> Lighting: Intensity, mode: ambient) the shiny highlights go away for everything, but I realize you may not want to do that. Sorry about that — thanks for mentioning it, though. I will make a ticket. Elaine ----- Elaine C. Hi Luca, That is a bug -- the shininess of helix axis cylinders should change using the shininess control. I have fixed it in the Chimera daily build. Tonight's Chimera daily build will have the fix. Not sure if Chimera builds will work tonight due to a power outage yesterday at UCSF. Look for Chimera build dated Nov 14 or later. Tom
