Dear all, I try to zoom in the scene, to get very close to my model shown here below. I cannot be closer than in the image below, the zooming function is at its maximum. When zooming, I get the error message : /refocus to continue scaling/ I do not know whether it is a bug or something I'm doing wrong. Thanks for your help, Damien
Hi Damien, I don't know anything specific about this, but based on the message, you could try using menu: Actions… Focus (or command "focus") to see if that allows you to zoom further. Or maybe try zooming using the Menu -> Tools -> Viewing Controls -> Side View? - Mark ________________________________________ From: chimera-users-bounces@cgl.ucsf.edu [chimera-users-bounces@cgl.ucsf.edu] on behalf of Elaine Meng [meng@cgl.ucsf.edu] Sent: Monday, February 03, 2014 11:44 AM To: Damien Larivière Cc: UCSF Chimera Mailing List Subject: Re: [Chimera-users] Zoom problem? Hi Damien, Another option that the Chimera folks put together is the ability to "focus" using the mouse. If you go to the mouse preferences, you'll see the combination to use your mouse to "center". I've adjusted my settings to use the right mouse button to center. I think this along with Elaine's response will help a lot. Hi Elaine, OK, that's worked. That's the first time I got such an error message. I can now be as close to the model as I need to be. Thanks! And thanks to Darrell and Mark for their suggestions! Damien Le 03/02/2014 17:44, Elaine Meng a écrit :

Hi Damien, This happens when the Chimera Camera scale factor becomes enormous (like 1.0e30). The focus command will reset this to 1 and fix the problem. You can see the value in the Camera dialog (Tools / Viewing Controls / Camera). The scale factor gets increased when you zoom in. It works like a telescope zoom -- the field of view gets smaller but the camera doesn't get any closer to the molecule. How does it get to such a huge value? I recall seeing this bug using a Space Navigator input device. It shouldn't happen and indicates some kind of Chimera bug. Tom On Feb 3, 2014, at 7:29 AM, Damien Larivière wrote:
