
Hi Tim, If you just want to change the model number of the existing model (as opposed to having two copies of that model) you can do that by simply double-clicking the model number in the ID column of the Models panel and editing it. Or, if you prefer using a command, you can do the same thing with the "rename" command "id" option: <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/rename.html> Editing the model name or number directly in the Models panel actually generates the corresponding command and shows it in the Log.
