Hi Elaine,

Thanks. I was aware of the toolbar but hadn't come across the ui mouse mode page in the user guide. Is there a way to center the view based based on where you click (similar to chimera, pymol, coot)? I think that would be really helpful in combination with cofr centerOfView. It's also a very handy way to navigate maps and models, by clicking on where you want to center.

Hi Yazan,
ChimeraX has very many mouse modes (more than in Chimera) and you can assign functions to three mouse buttons and scroll wheel alone and in combination with Ctrl, Shift, Command, and Alt keys.  See:

<http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/ui.html#mousemode>

See the “pivot” function. It sets center of rotation but does not put it at the center of window.

There is also a whole section of the Toolbar with icons devoted to assignment of these functions to “right mouse” (or touchpad equivalent):

<http://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/tools/mousemodes.html>

ChimeraX menu: Help… User Guide will show an index of general topics, tools, and commands, with links to their individual help pages.  That’s a good place to look first for information. The mousemodes are mentioned near the top of this User Guide index.

I hope this helps,
Elaine

Was wondering if there are plans to add support for modifying mouse keys with ctrl (similar to what is in chimera). I am also wondering if there are plans to create a recenter + change pivot button/function that is also part of chimera.
