Hi Cedric,
I kind of need to know the version of the ChimeraX where this doesn't work, the one on your Mac.  When you start up that ChimeraX, what is the very first line in the log?

The session was created with version 1.11.dev202511070202 (2025-11-07) on a Windows 11 machine, this one can reopen it fine.
 
But I cannot open it on the latest Mac build, downloaded 2h ago, dated Nov 24th (sorry don’t have the version number here)
Is there a workaround ?  Can I save this session in a multi-version-friendly format ?

A test session I created in an older daily build worked as described (failing in the release candidate; working in the latest daily build).  In the daily build you are using, is this the first line in the Log:
 
UCSF ChimeraX version: 1.12.dev202511250038 (2025-11-25)

Hi Cedric,
Your session will not open in the current 1.11 release candidate, but it should open in the current daily build (near the bottom of the download page).  We will work on getting sessions like yours to open in the release candidate.
