In the release you are using (0.93), "dark mode" on the Mac will cause the sequence background to be black. If you upgrade to the current release, the background will always be white.

I tried background color -but that changes for the molecule in display not the sequence. I also checked settings for the sequence viewer but there doesn't seem to be a setting specifically for the background sequence viewer either.
