That is not currently possible in ChimeraX.  We do have an enhancement-request ticket (#6650) open for it, but it wouldn't seem to be too high a priority since you can currently save an image with a transparent background and add any background you like with most image-editing programs.  I have added you to the CC list for that ticket.  Or do you actually want to change the background to an image for interactive use for some reason?
