Hi Vinita,You may be the first person who has tried to use ChimeraX with a local installation of Modeller without ever having used the corresponding web service (in which case ChimeraX would have remembered your supplied Modeller license key). Looking at the code, I can see that ChimeraX is trying to get the Modeller license key despite not needing to do so with a local installation. I will open a ticket in our bug-tracking database for this issue with you on the recipient list. In the meantime, if you can run one job using the web service, then ChimeraX will remember the license key and I think that after that you will be able to use your locally installed version without an error.--EricEric PettersenUCSF Computer Graphics LabOn Nov 24, 2025, at 1:17 AM, Alexandra Zahradnikova via ChimeraX-users <chimerax-users@cgl.ucsf.edu> wrote:_______________________________________________Dear VinitaNow I see that the window I mentioned is not present when you run Modeller from your computer.Maybe you should first try a computation with the web service? I have never used a local installation of the Modeller. The licence key may bi different when working from inside ChimeraX.BestSashaFrom: Alexandra Zahradnikova [mailto:alexandra.zahradnikova@savba.sk]

If you can't find the key in your local installation just follow the instructions/links in the above to get another key from the Modeller developers.

When you say "successfully using Modeller for homology modeling" I don't know if you meant from inside ChimeraX, or just using Modeller directly. If you were doing it from inside ChimeraX, you should have already gotten this license key and entered it into the ChimeraX dialog. If you were doing it directly with Modeller installed on your own computer, I don't know where the license key is kept. Probably somewhere in the Modeller installation.

However, I've encountered an issue regarding the executable location of Modeller. Although I am successfully using Modeller for homology modeling, I am receiving a notification in ChimeraX stating that the license key is unavailable. I have attached an image of the error message for your reference.
