Hi Beth,

ChimeraX outputs color information in GLTF format, for example "save ~/Desktop/scene.glb".  Maybe your 3D printer software accepts that format.  If not you might try converting that format to one that your 3D printer accepts using other conversion software.  ChimeraX also exports X3D with colors.  So the main issue is figuring out what your printer software can handle.  Also there is another issue.  Even if the 3D printer software accepts GLTF or X3D formats it may not handle the vertex color information ChimeraX uses.  It may only handle texture colors.  Here is some info about how texture colors can be output in some cases in ChimeraX

Hi-

Is there a way to export the multi-color information in ChimeraX for 3D printing? I have figured out how to combine the .mtl and .x3d information in Chimera, but would like to use rendering in ChimeraX that is not available in Chimera.

Thank you (and sorry if you have answered this a million times - I couldn't find it in the archive despite my best efforts!).

Beth
