Hi Juan, Chains normally don't have any attributes that would be of interest for coloring, so aren't listed as a choice in the Rendering by Attribute tool since that would just be confusing for most users. Unfortunately, using chains isn't even an option in the "color byattribute" command, which isn't good. I will open a ticket in our bug-tracking database for rectifying that. At any rate, until then I would suggest assigning your attribute to residues instead of chains and then you will be able to use the tool to color the chains. --Eric Eric Pettersen UCSF Computer Graphics Lab

Dear developers,
I’m trying to color the ribosome (4ug0) with a color code for abundance of each chain (ribosomal proteins) found in my proteomics data.
I have created an attribute successfully, as it says in the log:
Summary of feedback from opening fc.defattr note Assigned attribute 'FC' to 32 chains using match mode: any
However, in the Render/Select by attribute tool there is no option to color chains, only atoms/residues/structures. How can I apply these numeric values to color the different chains/subunits?
Thank you,
