Hi Matt,

  The Save dialog sorts by date for me in ChimeraX 1.5 on Windows 10.  I just click on the Date Modified header.  This dialog is part of the Qt window toolkit, not something the ChimeraX team wrote.  I have no idea why it would not work for you.

The ChimeraX 1.7.1 file save dialog on Mac sorts files by date if you click the Date Modified heading.  This is a Qt window toolkit file save dialog (not an operating system native dialog) so I would expect it to work the same on all operating systems.
