Hi George, Well, the atoms have to be shown in the "ball" style for the ball scale to make any difference. <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/style.html>
So first change to ball style, either everything or just your selection:
select #2/A:120,119,41,36,37,34,49,117 show sel style sel ball
You don't need to create a ballScale attribute, it already exists. The better way to change it is with command "size": <https://rbvi.ucsf.edu/chimerax/docs/user/commands/size.html>
size sel ballScale 0.2
I hope this helps, Elaine ----- Elaine C. Meng, Ph.D. UCSF Chimera(X) team Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco

No changes were observed on the ball scale. Is it likely that I should be trying something different to change the ball diameter?
Thank you
