Every other model of Mac works correctly, and this bug has never been reported on Windows or Linux. Unfortunately Apple deprecated the OpenGL graphics standard about 6 years ago when they introduced their proprietary Metal graphics. So I don't expect Apple to ever fix this. Apple Intel graphics drivers also frequently crash ChimeraX. On the good side the Apple M1/M2 graphics has been rock solid, only one or two crashes reported in 3 years. So the only solution is to use a different computer. You can save a ChimeraX session (file suffix .cxs) on your Mac and open it on another computer to save an image.
